Too low to boat? by Michael Lewis ( Louie ) (email)

What do you call too low for boating? I don't have any ideal what level we have run it at but I've been on it when I've known it was under 800 cfs and it was low but still doable, very doable. You know that river wide ledge kinda close to the bottom well the water wasn't all the way over it and there was a line down the left and a creek line on the right. That creek ain't much wider than Tellico and it damn sure don't take no 800 to make Tellico runnable. Just how many time have you all run it and at what levels?

I ran it at the four test releases July 12-14, 2000. In my opinion, the lowest level we ran that was worth running was 670 cfs, or 4.15 feet. Someone (Wayner?) posted to BoaterTalk that it was OK down to 600 cfs (4.0 feet). Someone else posted that it could be run down to 3.6 feet. I don't know what this correlates to in feet, but the "too low to run" releases were 300 cfs. Feel free to run them at that level and report back to the rest of us.

On the final schedule, one of the 300 cfs releases (March 22) is now listed as 600 cfs and the other (March 23) isn't listed. Perhaps AW isn't bothering to list it and you'll still have your chance to test it for us!

Site look funky?  Your browser is so old standards-based layouts and styling confuse it.  Consider updating.  Good options include:  Mozilla (Linux, Mac, Windows),  Mozilla Firefox (Linux, Mac, Windows),  Netscape v7 or higher (Linux, Mac, Windows),  Opera v7 or higher (Linux, Mac, Windows),  Galeon (Linux),  Konqueror (Linux),  Apple Safari (Mac),  Mozilla Camino (Mac),  Microsoft Internet Explorer v5 or higher (Mac),  Microsoft Internet Explorer v6 or higher (Windows).  All are free.  Because of security concerns I personally avoid Internet Explorer.  It may or may not be more buggy than its competitors, but its prominence and Microsoft's notoriety make it the most frequent target of malicious crackers.
