Whazzup with WCP?

As Roger Waters says in Pink Floyd's The Wall...
"is there anybody out there???"

Just wondering what is up with WCP. Last weekend I scheduled a WCP trip which ended up running Section 9 to Stackhouse. One of the participants moved to this area recently and said he was excited when he saw our Web site, but disappointed when he went to Earthfare on the prescribed meeting night and there was no club meeting.
Several people have asked me in recent months what is up with the club. I was not really sure what to say, so I told them it must be in hibernation for the winter. So what is the story? Last summer seemed like we had a group of people willing to lead. But I have not seen much activity since. I am not blaming anyone for the inactivity since I rarely can get to a club meeting. Just wondering if there are any plans.
There is no doubt it should continue to exist, as a platform for conservation. The great success of Rod Baird and Chris Bell in securing the Cheoah releases is a testimony to that. But what form should we take?
I still like the idea I proposed last year of making this a virtual club linked by the Web site and list server, with maybe four meetings a year incorporated in popular activities, ie. the summer picnic, spring swamp trip, Gauley trip and Christmas party. I also propose again that we eliminate dues and make this a free club open to anyone who wants to be on the list serve. I don't think it makes sense to collect dues unless the club is more organized and offering some services to members. Finally, I want to thank Chris and Rod for their efforts on behalf of the Cheoah, and Chris for creating this online forum and linking it to boatingbeta.com
I would welcome some response.

: :We have not held a club meeting at Eartfare for sometime now. As indicated on the website we were meeting at the north Ashville Library. But that has now changed to UNCA's campus. Yes, the info on the website needs to updated. Anyone interested in any upcoming meetings, or outings needs to refer to the calendar to insure accurate info. As a club officer I will do what I can to help us all out as a club. Thanks for your post.

I've updated the home page to reflect the new meeting location. Our next meeting is this coming Saturday (12/17/2005) at Steve & Kim's house. Here's a link to the 2005 Holiday Party details.

I hope to see everyone at the party!

Site look funky?  Your browser is so old standards-based layouts and styling confuse it.  Consider updating.  Good options include:  Mozilla (Linux, Mac, Windows),  Mozilla Firefox (Linux, Mac, Windows),  Netscape v7 or higher (Linux, Mac, Windows),  Opera v7 or higher (Linux, Mac, Windows),  Galeon (Linux),  Konqueror (Linux),  Apple Safari (Mac),  Mozilla Camino (Mac),  Microsoft Internet Explorer v5 or higher (Mac),  Microsoft Internet Explorer v6 or higher (Windows).  All are free.  Because of security concerns I personally avoid Internet Explorer.  It may or may not be more buggy than its competitors, but its prominence and Microsoft's notoriety make it the most frequent target of malicious crackers.
