This is the put in at Barnard for raft trips and private boater trips. It is usually quite calm and the water usually about 12-15 feet lower.

Hi! I'm a new member . . . hoping to make it to a WCP meeting and on a trip soon.  I took some photos on Section 9 yesterday I thought you might like to see.

Whoa, those are some big ugly holes! I don't suppose anyone was actually on the water that day? BTW, did you notice a smell of deisel fuel down there? I was wondering if the fuel spills in Asheville were noticeable downstream. Hopefully the flood washed it all away without killing any fish or wildlife. Good job and keep those photos coming.

No diesel smells downstream, so hopefully good news there. No one was on the river, but there were a few creek boats on vehicles that I don't usually see on the FB. There was one guy in a PFD and helmet at the put in, but think he came to his senses and didn't try it... a good thing considering the size of the debris out there. Think he and his buddy were going to do brush creek instead. If anyone is going out on Section 9 when it gets to a more reasonable level, let me know and I might try to get some photos.

Site look funky?  Your browser is so old standards-based layouts and styling confuse it.  Consider updating.  Good options include:  Mozilla (Linux, Mac, Windows),  Mozilla Firefox (Linux, Mac, Windows),  Netscape v7 or higher (Linux, Mac, Windows),  Opera v7 or higher (Linux, Mac, Windows),  Galeon (Linux),  Konqueror (Linux),  Apple Safari (Mac),  Mozilla Camino (Mac),  Microsoft Internet Explorer v5 or higher (Mac),  Microsoft Internet Explorer v6 or higher (Windows).  All are free.  Because of security concerns I personally avoid Internet Explorer.  It may or may not be more buggy than its competitors, but its prominence and Microsoft's notoriety make it the most frequent target of malicious crackers.
