Introduction
The calendars below describe the "recreational releases" tentatively scheduled for the Tallulah River below Tallulah Dam in 2011. Note that by passing your cursor over the colored calendar cells the release information will appear in a pop-up text window.
Gage Information
Scheduled releases ordinarily occur the first two weekends in April and the first three weekends in November. Saturdays 500 cfs is released and Sundays 700cfs. Boaters are allowed on the water once the level stabilizes, which is about 9:30am; the water is turned off at 4pm. American Whitewater negotiated these releases; you are a member, right?
Notes
Note: Releases have been cancelled in the past due to drought and, in November 2010, due to a broken flood gate on the dam. As I post the 2011 schedule in early February 2011 I do not know if the flood gate has been repaired. I will update this page when I learn the status of the 2011 releases, but I'm posting the schedule assuming the gate has been repaired. 2/20/2011 Update: The April 2011 releases have been cancelled but may be rescheduled for May 2011.
