The 2002 Mystery Nationals were once again held at
Cowbell Rapid, Nolichucky River, Erwin, TN. First place went to
Nathan Mills, second to Eric Zitzow, and third to Trip Kinney. Trip
had the single longest ride, down 25 seconds. Full results will be
available at the Angst
Mystery Nationals site.
Worthy of special mention were:
- The very cool William Nealy T-shirt
- The great attitudes
- Tina, who was everywhere doing everything -- from handling all the
timing, to making dinner, to making a beer run, to checking to make
sure there were no kids in sight of the nude dash to the river and
back.
- The kid who got in a kayak for the third time in his life and
managed to get some downtime. The smile on his face was priceless.
- Andria, who just started squirt boating and got her first downtime
this weekend. The smiles on her face whenever she got down lit the
whole river.
- Nathan, who brought a bike he built that must make him the envy of
every kid in his neighborhood (and my neighborhood too). Oh yeah, with
his usual grace and good spirit he won the men's mystery championship.
